Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive analysis of individual and group behavior in organizations. The purpose is to understand how organizations can be managed more effectively while enhancing the quality of employee work life. Organization theory helps businesses understand how to organize, adapt, and improve. It guides leaders in making choices about structure, strategy, and people, leading to better performance and long-term success. Topics include motivation, goal setting and rewards, job design, group dynamics, work stress, power and politics, international aspects of organizations, organizational structure, communication, and organizational change and development.
This course is an upper-division course for students that have met the admission requirements for upper-division courses. This course is designed to investigate the broad spectrum of organizational behavior issues that managers face today and will face in the future
The basic principles and concepts of organizational behavior and practice will be presented in the lectures, class discussions, presentations, assignments, quizzes and through the select readings and team case studies. This course uses case analysis skills as the focus of learning.
This course will transfer to other community colleges and most four-year institutions in Texas.

- Evaluate and design effective management strategies to implement projects and programs within an organization (CLO1).
- Critique and synthesize organizational data and issues by employing critical thinking processes(CLO2).
- Develop and analyze oral and written communication skills and leverage technology to enhance communications(CLO3).

- Identify HRM practices suited to different business strategies.
- Specify how management can address international differences in HRM.
- Determine how employment laws apply to HR practices.
- Analyze job tasks and required attributes.

- Apply and evaluate recruitment and hiring methods.
- Determine training approaches for different objectives.
- Evaluate the impact of labor unions and labor laws on HRM.

- Non Drop: All first week assignments need to be completed and submitted by the due date to avoid possibly being dropped from the class.
- Attendance: Daily online attendance (via Canvas or Zoom) and participation are expected.
- Late Work: Assignments submitted late may be subject to a penalty unless approved by the instructor.
