Week 3: Sensation and Perception & Learning

Week three...

This week we delve into the fascinating areas of Sensation and Perception (Chapter 5) and Learning (Chapter 6). It is a fascinating chapter and to begin, please watch these videos on Synesthesia:

With sensation and perception, we learn how our brain takes in information and processes what is being brought into it. The next chapter brings us into the world learning. As a longtime teacher, I have enjoyed watching my students' learning and the great differences in each. I hold many theories of learning, but one has always been a part all I do: Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. This states that we cannot learn without having basic needs met. If a student is angry, hungry, scared, that student cannot move on in learning. I have seen it repeatedly and use it the theory daily.

When reflecting on this week, please apply to yourself. We are individuals and interact with the world in many different manners. What is important to you? What brings you success in learning? Enjoy this week of experiences.
